Craniosacral Therapy for Pediatric Chiropractors

Posted by Jesse Lillejord on
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique that works with the soft tissue structures of the body and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid between the head and the base of the spine. These structures and fluids protect, support, and nourish the brain and spinal cord.Craniosacral system is the fluid and the membranes surrounding the skull and the spinal cord. We are evaluating these using a gentle light touch, about the weight of a nickel. We are going to be feeling the different bones in the skull and directing them in the way that they should be going. We are feeling for any restrictions or any pulsing. If we feel any pulsing we hold it there lightly until it evens out on both sides. These are the different areas we are looking at in the skull. Typically we will do this in infants with torticollis or plagiocephaly. Torticollis is when the head is bent and rotated, and plagiocephaly is a condition of flat spots on the head. These are techniques that can be very helpful in treating these conditions,
