The Best Probiotics for Infants

Baby smiling, Best infant probiotics, best baby probiotics

Probiotics are growing more and more popular, even for infants! We have feted some of the most popular brands on the market to help you find the best probiotic for your baby!

The Best Probiotics for Babies

There are a variety of reasons why you may be looking for a probiotic for your infant. We aren’t here to decide IF your baby needs a probiotic, we are here to share what you should be looking for if you already know your baby would benefit from one!

With all supplements, it’s important to focus on QUALITY. Because supplements aren’t strictly regulated, it’s best to search for brands that are third-party tested. This essentially means that a ‘third party’, usually another company or non-profit, has tested the supplement for quality, contaminates, and overall supplement make-up.

The infant probiotics that we have reviewed below are all third-party tested, organic, non-GMO, and allergen-free.

Note: When choosing a probiotic, look for one with multiple strains and a CFU number in the billions

Baby Specific Probiotic Strains

Often times we recommend for babies to take probiotics due to some type of digestive complaints, such as constipation, gas, and colic. The probiotic strains listed below are some of the strains you can try too look for when trying to find a probiotic for your infant.

  • Bifidobacterium lactis : One of the most abundant bacteria found in breastfed infants.
  • Bifidobacterium infantis : ‘Super digestive’ strain for babies.
  • Lactobacillus rhamnasus GG : The most clinically studied strain. It has been extensively studied for its effects in babies with colic, diarrhea, digestive upset, and immune system issues.
  • Lactobacillus reuteri : Shown to reduce colic symptoms in babes.

All the baby probiotics that we have chosen to review include some or all of these probiotic strains!
